In the first week of May every year, MINI owners gather to have fun, meet old friends and make new ones, and have fun at an annual event called MINIs on the Dragon. It refers to a stretch of U.S. Highway 129, also called The Tail of the Dragon. Tail of the Dragon is a challenging road with 318 curves in 11 miles, and was made even more famous on the Discovery Channel's program, "Hell Roads"

This event was special as it was the 10 Anniversary of this event. It consisted of 722 MINIS and over 1115 people in attendance. I was fortunate enough to be one of those who attended this awesome event.

The area is loaded with twisting and winding roads on an 7-9% grade, which takes you through some of the most beautiful mountains and country around. Nestled within the Great Smokie Mountains it's scenery is something to behold.

But MOTD is just not driving the Twisties and the scenery, it has much more, including MINI vendors, different events including Wine Tasting, Bingo, Brewswap, a Pinewood Derby, and multiple events that raise funds for Graham County, N.C., where this is held. Perhaps the biggest things though is making new MINI friends, and a common interest about all that is MINI.

Here are a few pics of me navigating the Dragon.

As I said, MOTD is about getting together with other MINI owners, meeting old friends and making new ones too. (Did I mention enjoying natural as well?) Here are a few MOTD 10 pics.
