Why Politics and Law as a subject for a page???
The answer lies in the fact that Americans by in large are very ignorant about both history and law. A recent poll taken by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation produced these results.....
18% of Adults failed to cite the purpose of the Declaration of Independence.
50% of children between the ages of 9 and 12
fell into the same category.
50% of Adults and 90% of Children can not identify our founding fathers.
66% of Children and 33% of Adults do not know
who uttered "Give me liberty or give me death."
6% of Adults do not know that George Washington
was the first President of the United States.
Now if the average American is that ignorant about basics, how can we expect them to fully participate, and appreciate the legacy our founding fathers left us. Furthermore, if we allow this trend to continue, and not educate Americans on basic civics, politics, history, and law (not to mention, eradicate the false myths perpetuated by both the public education system, and so called intellectuals in our society) then we are doomed as both a society and a nation.
Well here we will try to end both the myths, and educate people in the process.
